Default Widebody / Grill Conversion PROJECT (b5 tp b7)

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING TO THIS THREAD:

Ok, so this is probably the 5th forum I'm posting my project on....and i know how it goes.

1) You might like it
2) Maybe you'll like it when it's widebody and finished with paint
3) You absolutely hate it

I'm not interested in comments by viewer #3

TRUST ME i love the b5 body in every way, thats why i have two of them. THIS car is a spare for me and i'm jumping into this project simply to do something different and turn some heads/ideas. Everything up to this point has cost me approximately $160 total.

No offense to those who do this.....but i'm not going to follow the leader and smoke my tails, spray paint my wheels black, de-badge my emblems, and slap an rs4 bumper on it....i'm gonna play.

Now that's all out of the way i'' give some background: I found a picture of this done in Germany in 2006, looked TERRIBLE lol. Anyways i liked the overall idea but knew it needed a lot of help. I tracked down the manufacturer and discover why it was so bad. The bumper had a not of body lines that didn't match the B5 body (too sharp and edgy) so i shaved a TON of it off an smoothed a lot of the surfaces down.

I won't post the million step by step shots i have but i'll throw in a few before and after pics. I also got bored one day and molded on a rear trunk lip. Just got my S4 sideskirts today so hopefully i'll start on the WIDEBODY this week!

I NEVER said i would made the most amazing B5, BUT i will definitely try something different and hope it turns out okay in the end.

It's definitely different from what you typically see with a B5. I can appreciate the styling because I do love the newer A4's. I'd be curious to see a B5 to B6 facelift if it were even do-able. The only thing that I sort of question is that the styling of the front end doesn't really match up with the styling of the rest of the car. I do like that you spent time to make it flow as smoothly as possible. And I also like the rear lip. Keep updating I'm curious to see what this franken-audi looks like when you're done!

ok i finally added to my front fenders just because pulling them wasn't enough for me. i made an attempt at blending the front fenders with the sideskirts as well, so we'll see how it plays out. Anyways here's some starter pics with my first layer of filler, there's no sanding or fine-tuning done yet so these are some VERY raw photos, but you get the main idea from these. I think that if all goes well i'll be seeing the paint booth in about 3 weeks.
