wierd button on b pillar

they are always on when you lock the doors and enable the alarm
the way the button works is you press the button when you get out, close the door, then lock the car. this enables the alarm but disables the motion sensors. These fun motion sensors allow a small fly to set your alarm off while an elephant could sit on the hood and the alarm would remain silent.

And the way you know they're off is the red light on the doorlock stalk...
...will come on for a few seconds, then it will flash for three seconds, then do the whole slooooow flashing thing.

It's the passenger seat ejector button!!!!
it amazes me when people don't read their owners manuals first. and don't say it isn't in there because it is.
as previously stated, the button is to turn the interior motion detector off.

I tell people that when they ask what the buttons on my steering wheel are for.
"This one [point to left Tip shifter] is for the driver's seat and rear left seat, and this one... [point to right Tip shifter] well, guess what that one's for?"

Lame kids!!
I would like to add I bought my a4 second hand and let me tell you the kid took the center console lid off, all the ashtrays, the sunroof slide cover, and yupp all the cup holders including in the armrests. Needless to say the owners manual was gone too.
