Will a T-304 stainless or plastic heat shield work the best to protect the filter from engine heat?

the what filter? air filter.... I'd use some sort of phenolic that doesnt conduct thermal energy

and put soemthing reflective on it that reflects away a lot of the radiant heat from the turbo.

Air filter? I was always under the impression the stock box was fine (not really improvable)

stainless covered with a heat repellent material would be excellent.

stainless doesn't conduct heat very well as it is. that's what makes it so hard to machine.

stock air box.

It's not for the Audi, it's for my 5.9L Durango.

I use Reflect-A-Tape on my heatshield. It must do something

You guy gonna laugh when I tell you: the material that same with the Post Office mail handler use,..

the little white tray. It help to isolate the heat from the turbo to intake in my car so well. It was used in the Lexus to protect the battery from the engine heat.
