Re: Yakima Bike Rack for the A4?
You may not be able to do it if your rack is 2 years older or more. Last week I went to buy clips only to find that Yakima doesn't make them for the Y mounts anymore. Basically the only parts I can still use are the crossbars and the locks. Needless to say I was royally upset with Yakima. Hope that helps.

My Thule rack works like a charm.
The only gripe is that you need to put a piece of rubber (like a piece of bicycle tube) under the hooks that grab the inside of the door, otherwise it will leave small indentations.
You really need the fairing too, or else you'll have a ton of wind noise. But be careful with it on either rack. I just took it off the other day to wax the roof, and I noticed that there is scuff marks where the fairing rests on the roof. This will happen with either rack if you leave it on too long. I had to use a cloth, body scrub, and some elbow grease to get it off. It's still noticeable if you look closely.
Anyone else with a fairing have this problem?

Re: Fairing leaving scuff marks....
I've got my Yakima fairing pushed all the way forward as possible and the extreme edges rest on the very top of the windshield but the center touches the very edge of the paint on the roof. Last time I had the rack off I did notice some minor scuff marks on the paint, but you really have to be looking for it to even notice.
My suggestion to you is to jam the fairing as far forward as possible...hopefully off the paint all together.
