Default Use the WindJammers instead of the fairing.

As I've said before, these get rid of 99% of the wind noise and there's no chance of scuffing. They also cost a lot less than the fairing.

Default Yea, but windjammers look stupid, fairings look badass. Also, less drag=better gas mileage

Default Why I would choose Yakima...

I had a Thule on my old car - I used to leave it on almost all the time. The rack uses screws to tighten the clamps onto the car. These screws oxidized and made it impossible for me to remove the rack from the car.

Although the newer Thule design uses some sort of swing arm - the adjustment is still accomplished by the same threaded screw. I don't look forward to it oxidizing on me.

I went to a professional rack place that was able to outline exactly what Yakima parts I required (they had them all in stock too). The Yakima rack does not use a threaded screw of any sort and I suspect will stand up to the weather just fine.

NOTE: Canadian suggested retail prices for Yakima stuff is almost identical to the US!! You US guys will save if you buy up here due to your favourable currency conversion (save 30%?)

My .02...

Default My way avoids scuff marks....

I use a very thin strip of static-cling window tint on the roof just under the spot the fairing would make contact with the car. It completely seals out water, dust, and dirt. You can't see it and you can place the fairing is any position you want.
I also use a rectangular piece of tint under each footpad of the rails. I've mentioned this idea several times before.

Doesn't anyone use it? I think it works great.

Default Your opinion.

The Windjammers are hardly noticable(4"x8") and I think fairings look stupid. Plus I don't feel like having a big Yakima ad banner on my car.

As for drag, I'd like to see some wind tunnel results.
