It's a difficult job compared to easier engines such as the 1.8T or even the 2.8 V6. You really need the special tools to lock the camshafts in place and other tools for the hydraulic sprockets, etc. In case you don't already have the new parts, check out Blauparts for their kits. The mid-grade kit is a little over $500, has about all the replacement parts that you will need, and a guide booklet.
