2005 A4 1.8T FIRE!!

2005 A4 1.8T Quattro with 24,000 miles, spontaneous combustion while parked in our garage. No key in ignition when smoke started pouring out from under the hood. Pushed the car out into the street just before the car burst into flames. The car was towed by Audi Roadside Services to the nearest dealer where I was told that the car was not an "Audi" because Audi did not sell combustible cars. I commented that just because the emblem burned off that it was still an Audi. Dealership was terrible, Audi of America has been no better. Audi Of America concluded that the cause of the fire was due to a faulty #2 coil that shorted out. Audi's solution, "oh well" these things happen, too bad for you.

it should be under warranty anyways

Re: it should be under warranty anyways
One would think so, wouldn't one.
But guess what.... |
lawyers are good for something
|
wow, talk about really sh1tty dealer service!! sorry to hear...
i did a search for coil pack short, and it turns out this problem occurs with all platforms (when it does occur) regardless of make or model.

man, thats terrible.....lawyer&warranty should have your back :)
|
ha, no they aren't
they are just necessary sometimes. All they do is transfer the dicking to another party.

Let me get this straight... Audi denied it was an Audi? Said, "tough luck?"
It is unbelievable and there has to be more to the story. No professional company would talk like a three year old and say, "too bad for you." Tell us the rest of the story. (btw, sorry for the loss, that really sucks)

2nd that thought. there must be more to the story.

Re: Let me get this straight... Audi denied it was an Audi? Said, "tough luck?"
Sorry to say this is indeed the story. This is the dealership's (Diablo Lincoln Mercury Kia Audi in Concord CA) position since Audi Roadside Assistance towed the vehicle to the 'nearest' dealer. Then I was asked to remove the vehicle from their lot immediately, but not quite that politely. This was a favorite vehicle (I have 4 other cars) and I really wanted to know what would make a car that had not been driven that day, simply sitting in my garage, go up in flames in a matter of seconds with no warning of any kind. I would to share my 'Audi' experience with AudiUSA, but my laywer has asked me not to, just yet. Suffice to say, the dealership was the high point of the whole sad state of affairs. I am deeply disappointed in Audi.
