I posted this a while ago but wanted to ask some more questions

"New to the Audi scene. I have noticed that when shifting from 2nd to 3rd in my A4 1.8T 6 Speed there is a noticeable kind of hard click or almost a notch, like it's hitting something in its travel.

All the other gears are smooth but this one kinda stands out.

Is this just they way the gearboxes are or is this a problem."

3 weeks later the strange thing is that if you are just stopped with the engine running and you shift from 1 to 2nd then 3rd and so on its very smooth. I assume that this is because there is no load on the engine?

Also the shift from 4th back down to 3rd to very smooth.

Is this the sign that I have a bad syncro 2nd/3rd?

Doubt it, 99% sure mine is the same way, been like it for 54,000 miles.

between gears...if you feel the gears grinding your synchros are shot, nothing you may or may not be ok

At the top of the ramp clutch into first, let out the clutch and start rolling down then clutch in and shift to second and then third etc?

do you have a shift kit? If you're stock it's doubtful that they would go

Stock 04 with very low miles but it feels like s#*t when I shift 2 to 3.

My question is how come every other motion associated with that gearbox is very smooth except that 2nd to 3rd one?
