3" MAF vs Factory airbox 2004 A4 1.8T

Need a recommendation. 2004 A4 1.8T. I upgraded to the 3" MAF and did not anticipate it not fitting into the factory airbox. Aftermarket solution?? Modify?

You can easily modify the OEM air box. Scroll down through this F21L installation DIY and you will find information about how to modify the air box. Clicky click® Then if you go to the very end of post #2 there is a link to fabricating a velocity stack for the 3" maf housing.
