Default Any VW Pasaat owners out there? looking for comparisons -see below

I am a huge Audi fan and own a 95 S6 Avant and a 91 Coupe. Recently in Europe I rented a VW Paasaat 1.9 TDI and sort of liked it. I heard rumor that next Spring the Paasaat will offer a 6 speed 2.0 TDI in the States and that grabbed my interest. I wonder if they would ever give us 4 Motion with the TDI and a stick?? I want the fuel economy enought that I hate to part with Audi. I dont think Audi here will have a diesal option. The VW to me felt more jittery on the bumps, definatley on the soft side. Anyone modify these to the extent that they can feel close to the B6? I know the B6 is awesome and have driven them as well but the diesal turbo is enough to sway me???? I averaged 50MPG with that Paasaat on the open road.

I ordered a 4Mo Passat Variant for the interior room. Cancelled due to end-of-model-year.

Default I just had a Passat TDI 1.9 rental last week in Italy....

Nice car. I like my A4 better though. We had a tiptronic so it felt kind of slow. I did hit 160km a few times! Tons of A4 Avants over there. Saw a few saloons but it is so the opposite of over here in the USA. Wagons are cool over there.

Default Bologna, Imola, Firenze, Verona, Rome, Lesina.....

Torremaggiore, Vieste, San Marino.. I was all over. Basically one week of business in Imola and Bologna and then another week seeing family down south. It was fun! Good to be back though.

Default My dad is from San Marino. I visit as often as I can, but not this year. :-(

Sounds like a good trip though. I"m sure you saw plenty of Audis, BMWs, and Benzes in the left lane on the freeway, too! Last time I was there we too had turbo diesel, mine was an Opel station Wagon. Awesome fuel economy, but not the quickest car in the crowd.

Saluti,

Default San Marino is nice, good shopping. We got caught in...

a bad wind and rain storm while we were up there. Didn't stay as long as I wanted to. Yeah I did see tons of German cars driving fast in the left lane. It was fun.

Default Citta' has mostly tourist junk, but there are other stores that aren't bad.

There's not too much history in San Marino, but it's a nice modern country. We are from Serravalle, which you would have driven through on your way from Rimini up the main highway to Citta'.

Where's your family from?

Default My father is from the Region of Puglia....

and the town is called Torremaggiore in the Provence of Foggia. It is on the Adriatic coast down south. About 4 hours from San Marino. I got to take over the Passat from the first Autogrille on the Autostrada all the way to Torremaggiore. It was quite an experience.
