APR Stage 1 six mo. update-long
Iv'e had the APR stage 1 chip upgrade for six months now and it's performed very well. The engine seemed to be cutting out under full load when I first got it. But then I had an emissions recall on my 02 A4 Manual quattro, I received the vehicle back from the dealer and I really did feel I was now getting all the power APR advertised 196hp/229tq. The car had a solid, smooth pull now-no more cutting out. It revs out much quicker and smoother than stock. For spirited driving, you have to get used to keeping it on the power band 3-4rpm but then the 1.8 has excellent tip in acceralation 4-5rpm. After warranty, I may trade the car in or do further upgrades:ex; APR stage 1+ but I'd go with the Milltek exhaust system and possibly high flow cat to really open up the top end. But no matter what I do with the engine, the car really needs a 6th gear. (You know what I'm talking about-drive to Vegas!)Further note, the car still get's excellent gas mileage (I get 27 average on my commute to work-22mi 1-way). I used to check the turbo visually after spirited drives to get a feel of what pushes it, and I noticed if you cool down the last mile home, it doesn't seem to have any adverse affect on the turbo. (no red hot glow)

Re: APR Stage 1 six mo. update-long
I'll be doing an apr stage 1 when it comes out(04) so please keep me posted if you have any problems. I also bought a thermal r & d exhaust to compliment it. How long do you cool down the turbo after driving it? and what would you estimate your 0-60 times are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: what do you mean when it comes out? hasn't it been out for a while....?
I'm talking about the apr stage chip for 2004 cars. They are not out yet but rumor has it that it's coming within the month.
