B6 A4 Longevity?
I have an '03 A4 1.8t Avant that I bought new ten years ago. It has 143k miles on it. It's been a great car. There have been a few problems, but nothing too crazy. It's getting to be time for another timing belt, so I have to make the call as to whether to go ahead with it or move on. I've had to replace a couple of window motors in the last few months, so that has me wondering if it's time. Anyone have experience with keeping an A4 for 200k miles? Thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you still like the car..go for it..my friend had an b6 (cab) and he sold it at 390k miles with the original engine and transmission..and also that car was driven like a cab..which is terrible for the car, but if you do the maintenance in time..its good. Also in my experience is a lot cheaper to keep a car instead making payments for another car, overall you save money. Also keep in mind..there are a lot of "american cars" that reached 200k without big problems..why dont you think your audi will not do the same? ..just an opinion.

My old "murdered" 02 had 208K on the clock. Yeah, things had to be attended to, but it still drove great. I also have Mercedes with 226K that drives great. I do a lot of maintenence and repairs myself (like the timing belt), but my attitude is if I am only spending $1000 to $1500 a year on a car, I just keep driving it. Lots cheaper than a $500 monthly car payment.

Thanks for the replies! I love the car; it's the best car I've ever had. The turbo works great at altitude (Colorado), it gets decent mileage and it's still fun to drive. I've kept my last three cars for over 200k, and it seems like I didn't have a lot of confidence in them for long trips in the last 50k. This car still feels fine on the road; just concerned about the small, expensive repairs.
I did just get a set of General Altimax snow tires and immediately regretted it. The tread looks great for snow, but the feel on dry highway is mushy. I've had Nokian Hakkapeliitta's previously and wish I had ponied up the extra $ for them again. So, I'll be keeping this through the winter at any rate.
Again, thanks.

Mine is 10 years old and it's still going strong. Yes there are issues but with regular maintenance there really aren't too many surprises (ok, maybe one oddball a year, haha). I recently replaced a rear window regulator too and just had a fuel injector go. Overall, though, once these fixes are done, the car still drives like a dream.

Wow 200,000 miles...that's like 320,000 km. Pretty impressive. I'm at 275,000 km (~172,000 mi) with lots of highway driving and my B6 still feels tight and stuck to the road as ever.
