Bilstein Suspension Questions
 

I have a 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro that has stock sport suspension. I've decided it's time to change the shocks and struts and ordered Bilsteins as replacements. The place we ordered them from sent us "sport" Bilstein shocks because my car has sport suspension. However, these are a good 3/4" shorter than the OEM shock on the front and 4" shorter than OEM on the rear. I don't want to lower this car at all. We live in an area that gets copious amounts of snow and lowering it would be a nightmare, particularly in the parking lot of the ski hill. I'm wondering if I should send the "sport" Bilstein shocks back and get the HD set which supposedly works well with the stock springs (which I don't intend to replace) and will hopefully not lower the car any more than it already is. Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Try a search and you'll get lots of data. That said the shocks do not set ride height. They dampen the motions of the springs. It is the springs that set the height. To be absolutely sure, I would call Biltsein or better yet send them and email stating your concerns and see what they say.
