Blow a tire going aprox. 140km/h

Driving today on hwy 407 (Toronto) I noticed some strange noise which gradually became quite loud. Pulled to the side of the hwy and my front left tire was flat. After replacing the wheel I noticed about 2" gasp on the sidewall of the tire. The experience was very amazing, my car did not pull, not significant vibration on the steering wheel, I could control my car all the time almost as nothing would happened. I've never experienced anything like this in my life so it hard to compare with behavior of different type of vehicles in such a situation, still, I thing my 2003 A4 1.8 TQ passed this challenge with mark of excellence. I'm under big impression how good I could control my car at relatively high speed just on 3 good tires.

Heh. At first glance, I read 140 MPH, not KPH. I was like: OMG, he's not dead?

Still, nearly 90 MPH. Impressive.

impressive! determine the cause? tire brand?

I had the driverside front Pirelli P6 blow @ 130 mph!

I noticed the exact same thing - no vibration, near perfect control of the car.

Negative roll radius. Same for all VW and Audi cars :-)

apparantly the thing tracked straight and true for a safe stop.
