can anyone tell me where the relays are in our cars?
i am going to be exploring the relays to make sure that that's what's causing my
"Camshaft Timing Adjustment" code P1531 17939... someone in the B5 forums suggested that it might be a relay... relay 30 whatever it is... can anyone tell me where they are? |
According to the manual, behind the instrument cluster...
|
do you think you can scan that page of the manual for me?
|
Shows a weak picture with an arrow pointing to just above the instrument cluster...
You might need to pull the instrument cluster from the dash to get behind it....
|
that's crummy... do you know how to take out the cluster? i can do it... just won't have too much
inbetween time to fiure it out myself
|
There are also relays just above the kick panel...
the panel just above your knees, as you sit in the drivers seat. Its held inplace by several screws.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/827977.phtml</a

There is no relay in the camshaft timing adjusment solinoid valve drive circuit
Only the J217 ECU Power Supply Relay, and it is located in the ECU box in the plenum under the windshield, drivers side.
|
Actually that makes sense!!! I was in there tinkering with the ECU... the relay could've popped out
|
do you have a part # for the relay? so i can just pop in and buy it?
|
The ECU Power Supply Relay, should have the PN on the relay case.
Refer to the Bentley for location in the ECU compartment, ("J271" at position 3, with "219" labeled on the top.)
