Default Can rear shock dust covers be changed / replaced without removing the shock ?

My dust covers on my rear Bilstein shocks rub on the shock making LOUD rubbing noises ESPECIALLY with a rear passenger..seems there is less clearance between the shock body and the dust cover/sleeve than when new.

Default Not really.

You can technically unbolt the top 2 bolts then compress the shock and unbolt the 3rd bushing nut while still on the car.
This is not an easy task since the Bilstein's are a high pressure shock, and they'll resist you compressing them.

It's much easier to just unbolt the shock from the car.

The probably you're hearing is a common one, something we ran into years ago. Sometimes a little grease on the inside of the boot fixes it.

Default pulling the rear shocks is super easy...

besides, is it lowered? If so, the noise is likely the suspension bushings and not the shock boot - you shouldn't be able to hear that at all.

Default Everything's accessible from the outside.

Removing the rear shock is very easy. Just 3 bolts, 2 up top and 1 on the bottom.
Slightly peeling the wheel liner back helps to access the top bolts. It's just a couple screws to peel the liner back.

you can also cut a slit in it going from the shock to the top of wheel well
