CCU fan relay...

CCU fan relay...
On an '02, 3.0... is there a CCU fan relay? I've looked at a variety of schematics and can't find it, possibly just controlled by a fuse? Thanks in advance!

Having worked my way through a fan issue, let me try and provide some input.
1) First what are your symptoms. Car overheats? Don't turn on with A/C selected? Never turn on? In my case, they never turned on.
2) A couple things to check. First, determine if you have a controller fuse in the fuse box on the side of the dash. Mine did not have one. What I think this means (I could not get confirmation) is that your car does not have active ECU control of the fan. I have an 03 which did not have the fuse and after extensive reading believe that at some point in the 03 or 04 model, there was an active controller put in. You have an 02, so assume it is the same as mine.
3) Check the 50 amp fuse for the fan itself under the dash. You will see it once you remove the under dash trim. Does it looked blown?
4) If you don't have a fuse in the main panel and the 50 amp looks okay, my best guess is the FCU (Fan Control Unit) is bad.

Thanks for the reply lyleswk, symptoms are as follows: Fan not working is intermittent. When I switch from defrost to heat I can hear the flaps moving, but no fan, same with the AC. If the car sits in the sun and warms a bit, everything works as it should... at least occasionally. My guess is that there's an intermittent short somewhere that's so minor that it only takes a warming of the ambient air to temporarily close the open connection. Could be the 50 amp fuse you reference... I'll pull the dash cover and have a look.

Hello again... got around to checking and 50A fuse under dash looks fine. In searching for FCU (Fan Control Unit) all I find are the units for the radiator fans. Is the Climate Control Fan Control Unit behind the glove box where the fan is located? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for checking back lyleswk... the mystery continues. Next plan is to pull the HVAC fan/motor assy from behind the glove box and see if I'm getting power to it. Cheers!
