So I got my check engine lights on ever since I purchased my 2003 Audi a4 it's on 233k miles on the chassis and 25k on the engine(rebuilt).

The past owner told me that it may be because of the coolant temperature sensor, but other than that he also told me that the head gasket is also kind of cracked and needs to be repaired or replaced and causes some minors leaks, and he advised me to always monitor the coolant for that reason. I just want to know if it is just really the coolant temperature that causes the check engine light or there is more than out of that.

Other than that, my ESP light is showing sometimes, and sometimes not. More often, when I just got home and going to park, the ESP light is turning on, but when I going out for a drive sometimes it turns off especially when I just turn on my car.

Any bits of advice or suggestions for my car will be so much appreciated. (Newbie and Passionate Audi a4 b6 owner here).

For the ESP, you need to get a VAGCOM download and see what is throwing the code.
