coilpack help please! (simple disassembly)

am I an idiot? granted there's a healthy fear of not wanting to fvck anything up, but is there a trick to disconnecting the wire harness from the coilpack? is there a clip or something, or do you just pull it straight out? I can't seem to get a grip on it, and I really don't know what to do. Please help.

*tracking thread* I would like to know this as well (I'll join U on this n00b question; Stone).

flathead into slot, pivot up the clip while pushing plug in, then pull plug out.

Stonehenge 07-24-2006 06:09 PM

by slot you mean the inside area framed by the clip? or the slot closer to the pack?

Stonehenge 07-24-2006 06:10 PM

haha, it's harder than the instruction "remove the wire harness" leads you to believe.

i looks like if i press any harder, the clip is going to break.

GOT IT! Excellent instructions. Many thanks, dagmz6s!!!!

hey spread, after I'm done changing them I'll draw you a pic and send it to you.

it's so simple, but I would have never guessed that's how it's done. looks like something you could VERY EASILY snap if you try to put the flathead in the wrong spot!

if your changing your plugs, you don't Have to unplug the CP. just pull it out and move aside.

A4Rye 07-24-2006 06:57 PM

your kea will fit it perfectly also

Stonehenge 07-24-2006 07:10 PM

Yeah, I don't really understand why all write ups on this say to remove the harness...

but I read that the CP's are sensitive, and they'd just be rubbing on the engine block or something like that. Oh well, at least I know how to change them out now. I haven't needed to yet, but based on how many people have CP failures, I'm glad I'm up for the task now. I'm gonna wait another hour or so for the engine to cool down more. the plugs don't feel like they're ready to come out. and the engine is still pretty hot.
