Default coolant light and overheating?

i was coming home this morning on the highway and i realized my exit was only 3/4 miles away, and i was on the left lane, so i hit the gas, go ~100, and cross 4 lines. i suddenly hear a beeping noise and the coolant light was flashing. the temperature went around 3/4 hot, so i took my foot off the gas and the light turned off and the temperature went back to normal. when i got home, i popped the hood to check coolant and for weird smells, but it didnt seem to be excessively hot nor was there a smell. the coolant was a little above MAX, which should be normal cause the car is hot. any ideas on what the problem is?

You have air pockets in the coolant system. Needs to be bled.

Default peak between the head and firewall and look for pink crust

the coolant forms pink crust where its leaking. thats one common leak point.

Default The flashing coolant warning for temp or coolant level?

3/4 of scale on the temp 'indicator' does not mean the engine was too hot. At full load, a higher than usual engine temp will exist temporarily. How much does the coolant level vary in the tank between cold, and fully warmed up? Should not be more than the amount shown on the tank >min ~=< max.

Default Take it to the dealer asap, your probably OK, but find out for sure. If it is

overheating, engine damage is possible. The dealer will be able to advise you if you can schedule any needed repairs, or if it requires immediate attention.
