coolant pressure problem
when i fill my coolant to the max line and stop driving i will come back out to coolant on the floor i can see its coming out of the return tank therefore being over pressurized but my gauge dosnt show that its overheating and i dont get any warning that it is and i dont have a CEL any idea what it could be im stumped

The only thing I can think of is that the thermostat might be sticking. Do you get heat coming out the vents when you turn on the heat?

can you smell fuel in header tank?
i have a 3.0 quatro that overpressurised coolant system I can smell fuel in header tank.it runs on lpg and petrol.
im told it may be a slight head gasket failure on compression stroke forcing fuel into coolant

Sounds like either (1) a blockage in one of the hoses, (2) a crack in the reservoir tank or (3) the seal on the filling cap.
Assuming under normal driving the temperature comes up, and regulates with the temp guage sitting half way, generally indicates the pump and thermostat are working. When you turn the engine off, the hot coolant will bleed back the the reservoir tank. If you have a blockage, it will pressurize the tank, if there is air getting in by either a crack in the plastic tank, or the seal on the cap is not tight, the coolant will 'boil off'.
I would:
(1) Take the plastic tank out, clean it out and inspect for cracks, replace if cracked. 9P/N # 8E0121403)
(2) Change the blue cap (P/N 3B0121321) , or at least the rubber seal ring.(P/N 1H0121687A)
(3) Flush out all the old coolant, get a hose and go to town, Its not uncommon for these to block up, previous experiences with other owners using incompatible coolant, gunk in the heater core, breaks loose and floats around the system etc. Fill it with plain water, run up to temperature so the thermostat is open, flush again, and again. What you are looking for is either 'gunk' coming out, or what looks like black 'flakes'. Try and get a garden hose to squirt down as many of the hoses as you can. Once you are confident you cannot get any more out, fill with correct coolant.
