Could air in a brake caliper cause it to stick?

Could air in a brake caliper cause it to stick?
My right rear brake is sticking - the wheel is very hot and sometimes when I get out after driving for a while my disc is glowing red. It's possible that there is some air in this caliper - could that cause the caliper to not let go of the disc or is it something else? The caliper is literally brand new - we put it on today and it started doing it right away.

I don't know about air in the caliper .....
but could this be related to an emergency brake cable issue? I had some problems with them sticking as many others and the return spring on the caliper wasn't enough to overcome it -hence the dragging caliper.
