Default Could my driver's seat power lumbar be malfunctioning?

Hey guys. My A4 is a little over 10 days old. Everything is awesome. Yesterday though, I noticed that when I tried to engage the lumbar support, it would not "push in to my back or withdraw into the seat". It will however rise up and down with respect to the vertical position of the seatback. It just won't release the lumbar or put more lumbar back. Is something broken here? The passenger side is also power lumbar and it engages with no problem. Oddly, when the driver-side lumbar did work I always heard "cracking/plastic like noises" while engaging it. I am not too sure what happened. I'm bringing it up to my dealer's service dept though when I go to pick up the permanent license plate- seems odd.

Default Its probably broken...

The cable anchors that hook into the lumbar unit have been known to rip out on the B5's. The cracking noise you heard was likely the cable end tearing out of its mount.

You need to pull off the seat back to see if this happened.

If this is the case, the dealer will likely need to replace your seat.

Be warned, when the seat back is removed, its very easy to break the tabs that hold it on. Be sure to inspect everything when its put back. I would demand they replace the entire seat if this is the case. You definately do not want the dealer fooling with upholstery. It will never be the same.

Another thing I experienced first hand.

Also, I hear a "clicking noise" when I try the lumbar, must be it trying to engage the wire- lovely

Default not so much. I just had my seat replaced. looks just the same as the other...

AND even if there is discoloration from the other...not only are you really really dirty! P but you could have them replace the other one if that did occur.
