Declaration of Non Liability - HELP!

To make the long story short:

I turned in my '99 A4 after the lease expired 3 months ago. However, I've been getting bunch of toll-charge and parking ticket from the mail thanks to the ******* whoever owns the car now. He keeps my old plate.

My first question is how come that license plate number still shows I'm the owner? I suppose the new owner has to transfer the title. I live in California.

My second question is how can I get a declartion of non liability doc from DMV? What kind of support doc I'll need?

Make copies of your lease turn-in paperwork and send them to whoever....and....

always keep your plate when selling/turning in a vehicle, but you've learned that now.

Not true, the dealer keeps the plate unless you release with them.

and transfer it to a new car. My last lease was a pathfinder and I didn't like it. The dealer kept the tags.

Hmmm. Maybe a state to state difference? In MI, when I've turned in leases, I keep the plate.

In NYS the plate belongs to the driver registered and NOT the dealer

I would never give the plate to anyone. they can commit a crime and it be on your ***...bad idea to give them your plates under qany circumstance dont give them your license too do you?
