Detailing Question-

I posted this question on the detailing forum, but not sure how much traffic they get over there. So I'll post it here also.

I removed a drop of bird crap from my trunk, but it left a slight "shadow" where it was.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to remove this "shadow"?

make sure car is clean-

then claybar and then use a polish or wax to try and buff out

The bird crap eats into the clearcoat, leaving the mark ("shadow") you have. That's why it's very important to wash off bird crap as soon as you find it on your car (just be careful not to rub at it, as bird crap contains small pebbles etc. that will scratch the paint - just wet and blot).

Anyway, like khukwgn said, clean the area very well first. Then I usually use something like Meguiar's paint cleaner to try and remove the spot. If that doesn't help, try a polish or glaze like khukwgn said and follow with wax.

best way to prevent it around the house...

is to shoot any bird that comes near. pellet gun works fine. I did it at my parents house when I lived with them. after a few months of not caring what I shot...from state bird to crows...I had no problems with it anymore. kinda made a no fly zone. this only works around the house though obviously.

Try Meguiar's No. 9 Swirl Remover...

it is a extremely fine polish that can safely remove the "shadow". Works for me.

Get a bottle of Quick Detailer (or comparable product) leave it in your car with a towel so you clean off future bird dooker as soon as it happens. Spray liberally and wipe off.
