Default My Impressions of the recently Installed H-Sport RS4 sway bar kit..

H-Sport Sway bars were supplied by Brian @ Avalon Motorsports.

I recently installed the H-Sport RS4 Sway Bar Kit. It consists of a 35mm Front bar and a 29mm Rear bar. My car currently is running the STaSIS TrackSport setup w/ 750#Front Springs and 1100# Rear Springs. 18x8 TDR Pro 1.2 Wheels w/ 245-40-18 Khumo MX's.

Ride quality: Overall ride quality is the same as before. The ride was always stiff and neither my wife nor I notice any difference in overall ride quality.

Turn-in: Turn-in is slightly better. There is almost no roll in the rear of the car and the front just goes where you point it. There is no stall when the weight shifts, it just points and goes.

When you enter a turn the car feels very well planted. The rear end tracks very well entering a turn and feels very neutral mid-turn and upon exit. I don't feel that the car is exhibiting any excess over-steer which is common with a rear bar this stiff. I am still trying to find the limit when the rear end breaks loose. I will be able to experiment more at the track in 2 weeks. I am very impressed with the balance of this kit on my setup.

Prior to this setup I was running the OEM front bar w/ H-Sport 22mm bar and this was a very good setup. Had a little roll and thus the reason I upgraded to the H-Sport RS4 setup. I wanted a slightly tighter connection.

I almost feel that the H-Sport S4 setup would be the best compromise for most cars. When I drove the H-Sport S4 setup there was still slight hint of under-steer w/ OEM sport suspension. The H-Sport S4 w/ STaSIS Tracksports is a very well balanced setup too.

When I talked to Hotchkis about these bars on this chassis they felt the softer OEM or regular sport dampers might just be overpowered by the stiffer bars and not able to offset the potential reflex of these bars when severly loaded. I am not sure I would not recommend this sway bar setup for anyone that has softer suspension than I am running with the A4's weight. Maybe on a S4 with the extra weight of the V8 things would be different. IMHO this setup is just too stiff for a softer sprung car, it might really be too stiff for my car, but I will reserve that judgment for after a day at the track.

Default I think your comments were just what I needed to hear and consider...m...

I would like to get H-sport sways, and was going to go for the S4 kit, but every now and then, I'd think about the RS4 set up. I have Eibach Pro-Kit springs and Koni FSD shocks presently, with the OEM S4 rear sway (and OEM sport/S4 front sway bar). I'm not satisfied with the body roll of the car (too much).

I was hoping someone with some suspension experience would post a thread like this looking at the RS4 sways with something other than OEM sport suspension.

Based on your comments, I think you'd suggest I stick with S4 H-sports, correct?

Default I hope you have them on the 'soft' setting

I took my car to the track at PIR when it was raining and I was losing traction (read as lifting the inside wheel) due to the bars being way too stiff on the 'stiff' setting.

Detuned the rear swaybar and things were a lot better.

I run those. They're great. I have mine set on "soft" since winter.
