cam chain tensioner questions....
do you need to replace the chain when you replace the tensioner?
What happens if you let this chain rattle go on for too long?
my chain is rattling at 2800rpm to 3200rpm... how much longer do i have before i need to get this done?

Yes, that is correct practice. ...
The chain wears also, for the cost, it's best to replace the chain at the same time as the timing adjuster assembly. I don't recommend waiting any longer than absolutely necessary before getting this fixed.
