Do you mean fuel pressure regulator?
If so, they're not the same thing. FPR sits near your engine and determines how much gas is provided to the engine. A fuel filter sits near your gas tank and ensure that no crap/dirt gets into your fuel system.

wrong. on the B6 they are both in the same unit.
that's partly why it took the chipmakers so long to come out with chips. APR's original plan was to use a different filter/FPR with a pressure setting of their design.
i just had mine replaced...the part is in the 50-60 dollar ballpark. it's got 4 lines coming off it instead of the usual 2. the good news is that it's a lot easier to replace than the B5's.
