A week ago, I received a notice from AoA re fuel pump recall on my 2003 a4 3.0.

The local dealer is installing the new pump now.

Interestingly, it included a form for reimbursement if the fuel pump had been replace on my dime. thankfully, it didn't fail to this point and AoA will be paying for the new one.

2004 A4 3.0 Q went out three times. $1200.

according to nhtsa, this new recall just started about sept 28, 2007. seems like i should have gotten a letter by now if i was going to get one.

guess i should check my vin for my cars manufacturer date too before i bring it in.

Hmmm... AoA must not have my current address. I never get these mailings. I should call them.

for the 3.0, i think it was program "JL"

There is another program, probably for the 1.8.

When i went in this morning to drop off the car for service, there were 2 or 3 other drivers for the same fuel pump recall

I got the recall about the fuel pump for my 03 A4 1.8T and I was going to wait a week to take it in for the replacement. I didnt need to wait that long b/c 2 days after getting the recall I stalled out at about 8PM sat. night and problem sure enough was the fuel pump! Lucky for me it was a free fix!

Does AoA reimburse for towing charges?

Summary:
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES PRODUCED FROM SEPTEMBER 2002 - MARCH 2003, EQUIPPED WITH 1.8L TURBO, 2.8L V6, OR 3.0L ENGINES, A CHANGE IN THE ELECTRICAL MOTOR COMPONENTS IN THE FUEL PUMP CAN LEAD TO AN INOPERATIVE FUEL PUMP AND, ULTIMATELY, STOPPAGE OF FUEL SUPPLY TO THE ENGINE CAUSING IT TO STALL.
Consequence:
IF FUEL FLOW TO THE ENGINE IS INTERRUPTED, THE VEHICLE COULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING AND THUS PRESENT A POTENTIAL RISK OF CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW FUEL PUMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 10, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VW AT 1-800-222-8987 OR AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834.
