My car got rear ended and I am thinking of getting something other than a plane jane A4 bumper cover.

1) S4 bumper - Would it look okay withoug a lip spoiler and door blades? Insurance won't pay for all that stuff, and I don't want this to cost very much out of pocket.

2) Caractere bumper - How would it look without the rest of kit? Is the Caractere just the lower section or the entire bumper cover (from trunk lid to exhaust tips)?

Any other ideas of what rear bumpers I can use?

trunk strip for $165. it will still look nice w/o the lip spoiler or door blades. however i would recommend getting the unpainted lip spoiler from spoilerdepot.com (or their shop on eBay) and get it painted at the same time for paint match reasons. door blades can follow later if you wish.

i must let you know that the stock exhaust tips will look somewhat hidden because of the near 1" extension on the S4 rear. get some vibrant tips for now.

Vibrant 1304's are on my list.

I am afraid of spoilerdepot because they say it's an S4 spoiler but it looks much bigger (more like Votex, which I don't like).

BTW... why do you prefer the S4 bumper to the Caractere? I am just curious.

Seems like body shops always charge whatever Audi's list price is.

I may call my salesman directly. When I bought my car 2 years ago, he told me if I ever needed parts to call him and he'd hook me up with his discount. I have never taken him up on that offer. Might be time to cash in.

spoilerdepot.com's site needs to be corrected. it is infact a replica of the A4 votex. a couple of people have it here and it looks nice and have no complaints.

i went with the S4 rear because of no fitment issues. i did not want to deal with any cutting or resizing. i am picky too. also the s4 rear was cheaper not to mention i had already purchased the S4 door blades. for me, it looks perfect.

warehouse in NJ. they do great work too. yep, take advantage of the discount. but if insurance is paying, why are you worried? your insurance carrier should cover it. infact the S4 rear bumper is cheaper than the A4's!

Today the dealer quoted me $416 for the A4 bumper. The S4 quote was $534.

Here is the worst part... the aluminum piece is only $57.90 for the A4. However, it is $229.35 for the S4. WHAT A JOKE!!!

Obviously the S4 prices have been raised to discourage posers like you and me &lt;wink&gt;.

So basically, I can get whatever I want, but it can't cost more than $416 + $57.90 or I have to pay the difference.

the alum. piece from the A4 is plastic coated with alum, whereas the S4 is the real deal.
