Has anyone had cold start problems. Cold I mean -4 - -10 degrees

I got multi-missfires today in cyl 1, and a knock sensor code thrown?

Yes, 0-10 degrees (NJ) and the car sounds like a helicopter for several seconds

My car has about 350 miles since I picked it up 2 weeks ago. I could not start my car yesterday morning. When I turned the key to start it, it made strange sounds and then total silence. I tried a few more times within 10 minutes but was met with silence (it wouldn't even turn over), so I called roadside assist. AAA came about 2 hours later, and before he could do anything, I tried to start it again, and it started right up.

I drove straight to the dealer who blamed the frigid weather (big surprise), saying that the ignition contacts contracted due to the cold. Given that I've had it two weeks ago and have 350 miles, my dealer will examine the car Monday. I started it at the dealer, and it made a helicopter-like sound for about 3-5 seconds. When my service writer came to listen to me start it again, he said that's normal--something about a catalytic converter heater??

I had no problem starting it today, but it made the helicopter like sound again for about 3 seconds.

If anyone has any information or advice, other than to park the car in a heated garage (proposed by dealer), I would appreciate it too.

TOTALLY, it sounds like a 1980 civic trying to turn over an engine

mine started fine in albany this weekend, parked outside overnite and everything.

althought, my car is still throwing CELs.

-20 Fahrenheit and it sounds really bad...

at first but becomes OK in 5 min. I asked the dealer to put in the synthetic and he said they put in the Castrol Syntec 5W50 (no way to check that though).

No problems in -23 C ,albeit it was a little slow to turnover :-)

ONEQWIKWHIP 01-12-2004 05:21 AM

Mine was a little rough for the first 10-15 seconds.
