Default Heat Problem

I have a 2002 1.8T and it blows cold air. Core was flushed and seems to be fine. I am new to Audi systems so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Blows steady and temp gauge is right where it should be.

Check to make sure that your J-plug isn't leaking and letting air into the system...(its located on the engine block near the thermostat) Do a search on the subject, it should come up.

Just went through the same problem. Pulled core and flushed it- didn't really help. Replaced J-plug- didn't help. Finally gave up and had dealer look into it and told the heater core was partially plugged. I replaced it and as soon as I went to bleed air from the top hose I knew they were right. My old core would spout water maybe 6-8 inches into the air when I pulled off the hose to bleed. The new core probably shot 2 feet in the air. I had a huge pressure drop across the core. Hot water flowed, but not enough to stay hot against the airflow from the fan.

Default Problem Solved!!

Flushed the heater core in two directions with a hose and compressed air. LOTS of gunk came out and now I have heat again.

The coolant in these things crystalizes over time and plugs up the ports inside the core quickly. Happy to have this fixed and not have to replace the core.

Thanks for all the advice and help.
