Default Help with check engine light?

When I check the dignostics, it showed 1 error under ENGINE on the VAGCOM. the message said coolant temprature above normal level, sensor(62??). No errors on the culster display, and the temp gauge is normal. Any idea what that might be?.

Default DTC #

Give me the actual DTC number and I'll check it in Bentley if you want. They usually include a list of corrective actions.

16502:Engine Coolant temp. Sensor (G62):signal too high

P0118-002-lower limit exceeded-Intermittent

01810-Acutating Motor for Temperature flap; Right (v159)
41-10 Blocked or no Voltage

Default According to Bentley

Your problem is with your G62 coolant temperature sensor. It is fairly common. Bentley gives a way to check it but they are worth next to nothing so if I was you, I would just change it. They can be found here:

The location for the sensor is shown here circled in red:

It's just underneath the 3 connection hose (crank breather hose). I removed the hose when I changed mine, it gives you more space. Here is a link to DIY instructions on how to change the sensor, just scroll down the list and you will find it.

Default That's the indash outlet flapper motor.

I have the same DTC, clear it and it eventually comes back but the outlet seems to emit the air correctly. I'm not in the mood to remove the dash to replace it!

I also ocassionaly get the colant temp sensor DTC and clear the DTC and it takes a fairly long time to reappear. I will change the sensor in the spring as on the V6 it is slightly difficult to get at.
