DIY on bonnet/hood sensor
Finally diagnosed the reason my alarm is constantly going off is the hood sensor; with a Vag-Com scan. I have been looking for a DIY to either replace the switch or bypass the switch. Please let me know if I am missing one. Are there any risks with bypassing the switch?
Any help appreciated.

The insulation on the wire going to the switch has become brittle and cracked off and one of the wires broke off as I was fiddling. I have read the switch is both normally open and normally closed but nothing conclusive. Do we know if the switch is normally open or normally closed? Right now I have not spliced them together and so far the alarm has not gone off. I'm holding thumbs but have no confidence. I would prefer for it to go off that way I know which it should be.
BTW I changed the air filters today. Whoever at Audi designed the engine filter system needs to be fired!!

For my 03 A4 1.8TQM the switch is open when the hood is closed and shorted when hood is open. Meaning switch in closed position is open circuit, switch open position is closed circuit.
I cut the wires to the switch and left them apart, not touching, and the computer thinks the hood is always closed.
Hope that helps.
