HID unit - didn't know till light stopped working now...
So the nearside dipped died on me, no biggy I figured just go to the nearest auto spares store and buy a bulb and hey be lazy and just get them to fit it too
WRONG
I find out the car I've bought has been fitted with after market hid kit and no one will touch it!
Does anyone have any ideas? As I've just been under the bonnet and the light has come on again then went off! Wondering what is the likeliest culprit, lack of gas in the bulb or wiring problem?
Anyone any ideas??

HID problems are usually ballast first, followed by bulb. Switching between sides is often one of the troubleshooting steps.
Do a search - used to be a Chrysler/Dodge ballast that was a replacement for the Audi ballast. SInce it sounds like yours is aftermarket though, you might actually have to remove the ballast in order to find a part number that is compatible as a replacement.

Thanks for your reply
Unfortunately I have no clue as to what your talking about as in ballast etc
Also, it's actually come back on (though has gone off since and came back on) so it can't be the bulb.
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to dig into my pockets and consult an auto electrician. Halfords or Kwik fit wouldn't touch it with a barge pole which surprised me and made me come on here but I'm no good at this sort of thing
