How much will it cost me to keep my B6 from 110K to 150K miles??

I currently have an '02 1.8T Manual Quattro with 108K miles.

We just ordered a B8, and are trying to figure out if we should keep our B6 for a few more years along side the new B8 or trade it in.

We've gone through the coil pack issues the first year or two we had it, new clutch at 60K (operator error afer just moving back to hilly Seattle from NJ), oil sludge just shy of 100K, but haven't replaced the timing belt.

The service manager that deals with my in-laws recommended that we start looking to replace it, when we had the the oil sludge issue taken care of, since this model year has had a few engine issues.

Just trying to figure out if there are going to be any major costly issues that we should be concerned about, above and beyond regular service.

Thanks for your help.

Looking into my crystal-ball....

and throwing down the chicken-bones...I'll say $2500...

I'd be doing that timing belt soon or it could be $5000 +

So, besides timing belt, anything else to watch out for?

turbo going, etc...?

I'd be willing to take another $2-4,000 in preventative maintenance on top of regular service, but not sure about $4-5K plus.

Thanks to those who have responded so far.

Its luck of the draw

TB is preventative. So is changing oil, brake fluid, coolant, etc. That is the cheap stuff.

Things that are more probable than others:

wheel bearings
coolant flange
coilpacks
CV boots
suspension control arms and bushings
catalytic converter
exhaust flex joint
clutch

Just the typical wear items. All of them won't go bad, some probably will... they just wear out with mileage. I would bet more than $1000 in repairs but less than $4000. Depends if you do it yourself as well. Just pay close attention for noises and bad signs and the car will run well past 150k miles. My car is a 90,000 and I don't see any reason that it wont live to triple that.
