How to remove/replace oil pump 1.8t?
I'm in the process of replacing oil pan, pump and pickup tube in 2003 A4 1.8T Q. I have the pan off; now I'm attempting to remove the oil pump, but cannot free it from the chain. Does anyone know how to remove the pump from the chain? Do you have to remove the gear?
FYI, pickup screen did have debris in it and there were tiny pebbles of coked oil in the bottom of the pan. Sludge was not as bad as I was anticipating. Car has 107,000 miles. Oil has been changed every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil and large oil filter.
Thanks!

Successfully removed/replaced oil pump
I was able to remove the pump by rotating it slightly down and towards the drivers side and relieving the tensioner to pull enough slack in the chain to slip over the teeth of the gear/cog.
