Immobiliser / Security / lockout problem
 

I drive up to a steel farm gate . Turn the car off because I have to take the keys out . Open the door and then the gate , get back in and try to start it and it will not start?
keep trying but nothing changes . Get out . Lock it walk away for 2 or 3 minutes and if I get back in and start it without accelerator its still no go .
If I depress and hold the accelerator at 1/4 it gets a bit of coughing and then slowly roars into life with a stron fuel smell to boot.

Now I think the fuel is from trying to start it but the immobiliser sees me as a thief and admittedly I paid quite a bit less for it than I should have.

I have a Vag-com but it won't get into the immobiliser area at all
Can anyone suggest what is going on here?
