Intermittent 'Oil Min.' light after spirited driving
It started this week. Sometimes, after a spirited run through the canyons, I get a warning with the oil icon with 'MIN' under it. When I checked my oil (engine running) the level was over the full mark, but not above the little ball on the dipstick. Then I opened the engine oil cap, car shuddered for a second, and then I closed it up. When I shut the car down adn then started it up again, the oil min. warning was gone.
Why would the engine shudder when I open the oil cap? And why would it tell me that the oil is low when it is not?

Engine OFF when checking oil level...
Give the oil time to completely drain into the pan before checking level. If the oil is overfilled, it could cause it to foam up. This is bad.

M1 5w40, 3.0, 64K, and about 5-7 between changes
i've just finished searching through the archives and i believe i have the dreaded sludge problem. im going to get my 60k service on Fri. (i had my oil changed at 59K so i didnt want to do my 60k at the actual 60K mark.)
