Default k04 owners, are you satisfied? Do you wish you went big turbo instead?

I'm curious to know what actual k04 owners think. There is alot of hate from the message boards concerning the poor k04. It seems like every BT guy (and a bunch of people that don't have either a k04 OR a BT) don't think a k04 is a worthwhile upgrade.

Any thoughts from ACTUAL K04 OWNERS?

bonus pic of my future car. Hopefully. Someday.

Default

If I blow up a KO3, the KO4 upgrade as a replacement makes good financial sense.

Default Yes. Yes.

K04 is great for city speeds. Unfortunately it falls flat on its face at speeds greater than 60 miles/h.

I'm satisfied with a K04, but I will be upgrading to a BT eventually.

Default No, I'm very happy with my K04. It's good enough for me, the day I crave more power is the day I

get an entirely different platform altogether.

Default I loved my K04 but it lasted 10 months in my car before I upgraded to a BAT

In hindsight I wish I skipped the K04 step and just went BT instead.

Did I mention I get better fuel economy with my BAT than I ever had with my K04?

Default TJ: Hey Winston, how are the Vredesteins treating you? I'll need new tires soon and I'm itching to..

try the Sessantas. How are they in comparison to the GoodYear GSD3 that you ran before? Do they run wider or narrower?

Default well......

the only reason why i got the k04 was because i couldnt afford to upgrade the clutch at the same time. if i could do it all over again, i would have gone with a bigger turbo and i would have just simply turned the boost down until i saved enough for a better clutch. its really not that much more expensive to get a bt. plus, from what ive read bt guys are getting way better gas mileage because they are not spiking boost so much in the lower rpms.

Default Bigger turbo upgrade making financial sense?? Thats a story..

You save for the wife or girlfriend.

Because we all know you then "HAVE TO GET" the supporting mods to make sure it runs "safely"

But I agree with MC's experience with bigger turbos being more fuel efficient. They pose less restriction at cruise and are slower to "light up" than smaller turbos.
