Key fob question? I gave brian66d a key blade for his fob.......
We went to get them cut. It starts his car but only for about 10 seconds then dies.
His other keys fire the car right up.
Any suggestion or idea's.
TIA!

Something that the B5 S4 unfortunately doesn't have. :-(
I think it has to be coded by the dealer to "accept" the new key. Cutting a key is not enough.<ul><li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immobiliser">Wiki</a></li></ul>

You've got to match the keys
It's done by following one of these procedures, but I forget which one:
<a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Key_Matching_%28Cluster%29">Immobi lizer III key matching </a>
<a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Immobilizer_IV_Key_Matching">Immobilizer IV key matching</a>
You definitely need the SKC and PIN codes from the dealer to do so, and also not just any key will work, has to support the immobilizer.
