looking at buying new a4... some concerns

i know this question has been asked before and my search of the forum didn't yield a suitable answer and i was hoping u guys could help me out.

I want a sporty sedan that is fun and fast. I have narrow down my choices to the a4,is300 and g35. I love the interior and exterior of the new a4 and all the bells and whistle of quattro. However, I'm afraid that even after chipping the a4 the car will feel/be slower than the competition. I don't want a drag car, but i do enjoy a car with nice pickup. Can u guys tell me if i'm wrong at ruling out the audi based on the previous argument?

1.8 or 3.0?

the 3.0 is plenty fast enough, put the car in tiptronic or sport mode, and the engine comes to life. can't comment on the 1.8, but if power is a concern, don't think you'd be satisfied. i briefly thought about the other cars you mentioned, but neither has quattro, which i have come to totally appreciate, especially in this crappy weather. is300 is a boy racer car, same with the g35, neither comes close to the a4 in terms of looks, style, and class.

Re: looking at buying new a4... some concerns

i recently bought a silver/platinum leatherette 2002 a4 1.8t cvt w/ spt pkg, and sunroof. I also considered the is 300 and g35. I bought the audi due to more sophisticated look, higher quality interior and fun to drive factor. I came from a 99 3.0 acura cl. the power with the audi is just as good. so I am satisfied. However, I have installed a K&N airfilter and plan on the neuspeed chip upgrade,$349.00. Power will certainly not be an issue then. Finally price was much better. Miy a4 was a 2002 demo left over w/ 2300 miles from the dealer. I paid $24,500. The G35 and IS300 were much more and they had no leftovers to choose from.

The Lexus may be fast but interior space feels

cramped and the taillight detailing, which may have looked forward a couple of years ago is already looking tired and dated.

I can't say too much about the Infinity as I've had very little knowledge about that vehicle.

If you want power, the 1.8T will NOT compare. If it's pure power you seek then the Japanese contenders may not fit the bill either anyway but as been said many times before here, the A4 offers more on so many other levels than the Lexus or the Infinity.

A4 is a timeless classic. The other 2 are flashy wana be

Of the 3 you mention, A4 all the way

each of the other two cars might have "this" or "that" better than the A4 in a given catagory or two, but overall the A4 blows them both away.

it is an easy choice

Came very close to buying the G35, but decided on the Audi

The G35 does have awesome performance, lots of room, not bad exterior styling but the overall quality of the audi was much better. I went with a 1.8T quattro 5sp. Sometimes when I step on the gas I wish I would have gone with the G35, but I was willing to forgo performance for interior/exterior styling and overall build quality of audi, Im getting a chip in 2 wks, should pick up performance a bit.

if you drive the a4, it is definitely not slow but is not a rocket
