Maintenance Advice

I need to give my car a maintenance: Oil change and brakes. What's the best oil that everyone uses for there audi and what stage 5w-30, 10w-30, etc. what regular changes do i need to do besides oil and brake. Is the brake hard to change. Can i just by aftermarket brake pads and change it my self. Is it hard? What does everyone consider me doing.. Advice. thanks.

What car do you have? If pre 2002 A4 then you need the B5 forum.

Search facility will help you out a great deal.

Otherwise, most change oil and filter every 5k. There are several types suitable, mostly synthetic because Audi recommend it to prevent oil sludge problems. It must meet the appropriate VW specs - others can tell you or look in search. Audi Junkie is an authority on these things, and really helpful. Most use Mobil 1 0-40 or Castrol Syntec 0-30 (known as German Castrol) - so do a search for those.

As for brake pads - they're fairly straightforward and there are some write ups on the forum. Also look in the Tech forum here.

I'm sure others will give you more specific replies.

Here is a good write up of how to change the oil.

Good luck.<ul><li><a href="http://fastaudi.net/a4/library/oilchange.html">http://fastaudi.net/a4/library/oilchange.html</a</li></ul>
