Multitronic steering wheel

Hi all,

This is my first post (I don't get to pick the car up until Wednesday).

I'm buying an A4 2.5TDI SE as my first Audi and went for several of the options such as Multitronic gearbox and Navigation system plus. I'm buying from a main dealer here in England but was a bit dissapointed to be told that although the steering wheel will have controls for the stereo, I can't have one which also has the multitronic controls - "because Audi have stopped doing them".

I love gadgets and would like to know if anyone else has been told about this.

thanks.

You're lucky. Here in the US we can't pick and choose individual options....

So, only some people with 3.0s are even able to get the multifunction steering wheel (4-spoke). The rest of us have the 3-spoke design which is cool, but lacks the useful buttons. Here in the US, Audi stopped putting the multitronic/tiptronic controls on the steering wheel in 2003...not sure why. Guess it's cost cutting. I thought they still made them in Europe though. I could've sworn I read about it being optional on UK cars.
