Need some advice about me possibly selling my car-

Okay this is what I see in my future- I will be going to the Naval Academy Prep School up in Newport in July. I will be there till May of 2005. I will be able to have my car there. I will than go to the Naval Academy if everything works out like I plan. But when I get there I wont be able to take my car to the school until I am a first class which is for like 3 years. My car will be paid off in July- 22K in one year not bad:). But, my mom offered to buy it from me and than I could save up and put money towards a different car when I get out. I have sold my volvo and put that in savings. I mean if I sold it to my mom since I have paid for it than I would be able to drive it when I come for leave and everything. Its just that I do not want to start putting money into my car and than not be able to drive it or work on it. And I do not want it to sit in storage for 3 years. Anybody have any advice?

Sell it, buy another one in 3 years. It will be cheaper in the end.

surely sell it ...

and you can make interest on the money you get... put it on a cash deposit for 18 months or so. Interest rate is 2.75% right now

Agree! Sell it. No use keeping it around, when you're not going to use it much, plus the value -m-

of your car will depreciate. Just better to take $$$ out and invest in stock/bonds or at the minimum, into a CD. plus, by the time you get out, your current A4 will be quite outdated (I think you were talking about 4-5 years down the line, right?).
