no A/C
Hey guys, Brand new here, my son has an 03 a4 , his ac stopped working, and I'm trying to troubleshoot it
I am a residential hvac tech, so I know the basics of CAR ac.
I put gages on it, its about 75 outside, the pressures were at about 100 psi, compressor isn't running, Im guessing that its probably not really low on refrigerant
He did say that the ac stopped around the time that an ECONOMY LIGHT stayed lit .he cant get that light to go out. any help would be greatly appreciated

You need to scan the car and get the codes to know what's really going on.
A few years ago I tried to improve my AC by adding refrigerant and ended up adding too much and over-pressurizing the system. The AC would run for a bit (less than a minute) then the ECON light would come on and stay on until I cleared the code. Through trial and error I eventually drained enough refrigerant to get to the point where the ECON light no longer comes on.

ECON light usually means it's low on freon. The car is smart enough to not engage the compressor to prevent damage. But as recommended below, I would download codes with a VAGCOM to see if there is anything the car has detected like the G65 pressure sensor before doing anything else.
