No wonder you 5 speed guys want the 6 speed so bad. Test drove a 5 speed and it's at 4K rpms @ 80mph

My tiptronic is nowhere near that rpm at that speed. More like 3K

FWD 5-Speed has different gear ratio than quattro 5-Speed.

Default I'm going to have to revoke your smartie-pants license...
1-4 gears are the same. 5th and the final drive ratio are different. This is from the 2003 data. No word on the 2004 6spd ratios yet...

2003 1.8T Fwd

5th: 0.865:1
FDR: 3.700:1

2003 1.8T quatrro

5th: 0.889:1
FDR: 3.889:1
