I just bought a 2004 A4 Avant and started working through some of the issues but this one has me stumped. While cleaning the interior I moved the the turn signal down and the light buzzer turned on, I got out to look and all the parking lights where on. This happens when the turn signal switch is turned to left or right. I know there is a Body Control module and the Steering Column module, does anyone thing these modules could be the cause of this odd situation?

You car is probably coded as "Rest of World". In Europe, this mode is used to enable lighting up one side of the car when parking on a narrow street.


Let us know where you are located - you can use VCDS to modify the country to be anything you want (as the car really doesn't know where it's being driven} but that may change other behaviours e.g. in Canada DRL are mandatory.

This makes sense. Below is what I have turned on in the Comfort Control Module. I have a Ross-Tech.
Would "rest of the world" be set in any other controllers?

Great Britain- alarm system (only with bit 4)
2 flash on when arming/unarming alarm system
4 selective locking 1 door/all doors
8 activate alarm system
rear unlocking block via speed
32 locking via speed
64 comfort functions with remote (adapt in ch 62!!)
right side steering
256 avant (glass break sensors in rear side-and rear windows (if error: safe-LED constantly lit ))
512 1x flash when lock with remote
1024 horn sounds when lock with remote
2048 door/window-logic ( ignition off: No open door, windows works 10 min )
normal/????-alarm system
8192 No SAFE-function USA only
insulate-glass PR-nr 4KR/4KV
