Peeling interior: Has anyone ever had THIS replaced?

My dealer has been great about replacing peeling interior parts. They have replaced 5 window switches, the cigerette lighter assembly as well as the shifter knob/boot.

Now however, my hand brake "boot" is peeling I've noticed. So is the actual center consol.

Would these items be too much to ask for to get replaced? The other items were small and faily easy/inexpensive for the dealership to fix. But a whole center consol? I'm kind of doubting it.

Maybe I'll have some luck with the hand brake boot though.

Are you constantly cleaning your interior with anything other than soap/water? I've not had this

severe of problem (only window switches replaced). Just wondering if chemicals could be causing this.

Well...

I bought the car with 27,900 miles and the driver's window switches were already peeled. The shift knob chrome ring chipped soon after. The cigerette lighter I would say at about 35,000 miles...it's gradual so you don't notice it right away.

Nope...nothing is really being used other then a dust cloth other then on the door panels and seats.

It just seems like its happening from wear-and-tear.

For example, the hand brake boot is peeling at the point where it makes contact with the arm rest when I pull the hand brake to park.

The cigerrete lighter assembly was peeling was peeling on top where you push it to open as well as in the little tray where I place my cell phone.

Was this covered by the dealer or Audi cause my 02 is at the dealer so maybe they can fix this too??

Dealer = Audi? Heh...I don't know. I took it in and told them to fix it.

I have had the brake boot replaced because of a finish issue...

Although it was not because of the finish peeling it was because of the crappy design of the arm rest. I'm sure that you've noticed how the e-brake will hit the underside of the arm rest when it is down as far as it will go. This problem caused a spot on the top of the e-brake boot to wear off, as well as a small scuff on the underside of the arm rest. I didn't bother with the arm rest but I did complain about the boot. They happily changed it.

AHA! That is what is happening to mine. Not so much peeling, but wear due to the arm rest hitting it
