my audi has developed a problem on cold startup, the auto choke works fine till i get to the bottom of the street then it cuts out every morning and stalls the engine , i can re-start the car again with one turn, but it runs very rough until the engine is warm and then runs fine, ive had it to a few garages but they cant find a fault any advice would be really welcome

Not really a choke on FI engines. I assume your car is new?? Bring to dealer

Could be IAC valve....check with guys on B5 forum.
